Start-ups - Contact the corporate

Best Practice Example – Don’t make these mistakes when pitching

Making a pitch is considered to be one of the most complex aspects of the whole collaboration process. In order to avoid some of the typical mistakes that can take place during a two-minute pitch, we asked Dino Karl, Head of Presales at SAP, about common mistakes of start-ups while pitching.

I have seen quite a lot of start-ups pitching. These are the mistakes that I have recognised the most:

  1. Startups do not allot enough time for technical integration into the functional system of the corporate

  2. Startups do not demonstrate enough intrinsic motivation to combine their capabilities with those of the corporate

  3. Rather than pointing out the benefits of the collaboration, founders just keep on talking technically

Extra tip: Pitch your idea to someone who has no clue at all – if they understand what you are doing, everyone will!
